I meant that the flap will not open all the way to get a 2 inch column of laminar flow. The flap provides some resistance. I don't know why I keep typing because it really doesn't matter. Saying that a versiplux max flows less than a regular scupper is true. All I meant to say is that the difference is less than you think.

I am pretty sure this will still happen with the versiplug unfortunately.

I respectfully disagree, because there is no hinge on the versiplug, it's truly the water pressure keeping the ball sealed against the housing, there is nothing to open up. With the scupper, theoretically and to some degree of actuality from storeis i've heard, when the ski is inverted, the flap opens being that the hinge is now on the bottom opposed to the top, now gravity is the enemy. Once the flap opens, well it's all down hill from there.

Either way, I'm very happy with my versi plug. I'll never do a Flappy scupper again.

And I'm not trying to start a thread war. I just want to relay what I've heard.

The upside down leak happens because air pressure from inside the hull opens the valve/scupper. Don't see why the versi -plug would be different.

a scupper flap opens up when the ski is inverted because the incoming water forces the air out. i would imaging a 1way would do the same thing but it would take a little more pressure in the bilge to open it

the ATP scupper has the flap recessed and slightly angled so that it closes better, they also have service kits for them, ATP told me that to ensure the scuppers seal to the best of their ability you should replace their flaps every couple seasons (they supply a spare with new).

I have a versa plug max on one ski and a blowsion one way on the other. The blowsion seems to empty faster and less use of the bilge so I'm assuming it flows more. FYI my bilges run the whole time in the surf. 1 Rule 500 in each ski so this is apples to apples. SN vs. RN with aftermarket hoods. Tested on multiple deep nose stabs and inverted rolls.

The versa plug will still get stuck open when floating in the water if you get crap stuck in em. Mine sunk sitting at the ramp one day in 8 inches of water. Something held the ball open. after it passed the crap, I bilged it out and didn't have any leaks.
