i buy and sell a bunch and every once in a while i find one i wana keep. i found a 95 raider on cl for 300.00 and ive had a 94 light hull ive wanted to do for some time so i went and looked at it and score the hull was beat but it had a pro-tec wake up kit on it and alot of cool goodies and it had a trailer with it so sold and it came home as a doner for my light hull..... i sold the trailer on the way home for the 300.00 and gutted the hull for all the parts
the mill is a 61x/62t i taper bored it 1mm and used wisco slugs. the taper bore is an old hot rod trick it frees up the piston lower in the bore when sealing it isnt a big deal this is the first mod motor ive built so im posting it all in hopes i get some input. i also removed around .030 from the top to true it up and build some cyl pressure. it proved to be too much so i used the lathe to cut some off the top of the piston. im at 190 psi now. i also cleaned up the porting and rounded the carb side of the cases to help flow higher in the rpm. i used a set of bowlson reads that are 2 stage. the glass part is much larger than the carbon fiber port there suposed to improve the speed of the air lower in the rpm and open up all the way as the rpm comes on agin totaly new to me i have no idea what to expect. has anyone tried these?? if so how did they work?? i usually stick with oem reeds but these were free so why not try them. i toped it off with rebuilt carbs, k&n fa, and a coat of hot rod green.
i went through the pump today and im thinking im going to just clean out the brgs. and fill it with gear oil ive heard itll free up the pump. im useing a skat 15-20 impeller agin totally guessing.
im thinking id like to add a dual cooling system and put valves in the lines to control the flow to adjust the heat and useing lightened 61x flywheels without the rev limit. im open to any input theres some really bright builders so im well on my way i want it tested and ready for the fall free ride
