I just picked up a super clean Laserjet.
Fresh rebuild, bored .20 over
dual carbs, suppose to be the better square body ones?

Just a spinoff of the Kawi 550 as was Laserjet and FX1.

PJS made the engines for these, they came with PJS T1 reed cylinders, wiseco pistons,Mikuni superBN carbs, K&n flame arrestor,PJS head,pipe,intake manifold,cases,ex manifold, flywheel and electrics. The hull is much lighter and shaped quite differently than a 550 hull. Kawasaki crankshafts gaskets and seals from the older piston port engines will fit this engine, it is rated at 70 hp and is good for about 50 mph out of the box.

"Back in the day" of 550's etc.... when the Laserjet came out, it was pretty big news. It was, at the time, supposed to be the most powerful, fastest, bestest production stand-up ski ever.
I've never ridden one, but I have seen one. My only guess as to why it bombed is that that marketing was poor and even if it was good, the means of production was not there for the demand.
Soon after, the square nose super jet came out and the Laserjet (as well as the kawi 550-650) was doomed.
