so far I got a 15.5 solas impeller and a kill switch with lanyard. I blueprinted the pump cut and filed the intake grate started scrubin and cleaning going to tear down the top end maybe mill the head new gaskets clean the carb up and all new plumbing refurbish the starter

am I missing anything should I mod the motor is this even a good one is that a good impeller pitch for this thing? could use some opinions and advice I have a little room to spend on it and still get my money out of it if I don't like it

are you sure that prop is for the 550SX? 1982 thru 1989 are not the same as 1990 thru 1995 and wont work. cutting out the center bar on the stock intake grate does nothing but allow bigger chunks of crap into the prop and pump.

Buzzard is correct, your not gonna gain anything by cutting the center bar out. Look on ebay or even ask Buzzard if he has a Westcoast Deep Grate. Also make sure you have the correct prop. in 90 they changed. you have to have a spline tool to remove and install the prop. 15.5 is good.

thanks for the replies the impeller said it was for 90-95 I paid 105us + shipping worked out to 145canadain to my door. I have noticed from a little looking around its a weird crossover year old none reed motor and new pump. the intake well I guess it gave something to do wile watching football on Sunday. it also has no bilge im going to assume its a must. I have a spline tool from my seadoo ther the same and a flywheel puller spare starter solenoid and cdi he thought it would fix it he said lol bonus

Yeah. New Hull, Electronics and Pump in 90. Then the new motor in 91. I think I remember something about the new motor was not ready and they still had so many of the piston port motors available.....

the seadoo splines are not the same but a seadoo shaft will take off a kawi prop , but a kawi shaft doesnt quite fit in a seadoo prop. i describe the 1990 as the first year of the good hull and the last year of the crap motor. for whatever reason, the 90 is pretty fast as opposed to the older ones. it should have the stock siphon bilge and hoses right under the driveshaft unless somebody threw it away.

the factory siphon is still there dose it work good? im just worried my friends 96-750sx and 93-650super are full of water all the time bilge is a must on them. is this hull better at keeping water out? remember I suck so I think its going to spend more time taking on water then siphoning .

the impeller came yesterday so I got all the pump back together and back on the hull should work real good I think. I am a little confused on what bilge kit I need for this thing some kits say up to 90 and others say 90 and up. I also need a topend gasket kit and a set of rings what kind should I buy and from where. thank for the help so far guys

if you are getting the bilge bracket that mounts to the driveshaft support bearing, you need the 1990 and newer. if you just get a bilge pump and epoxy the screen to the hull, you dont need any bracket
