Freestyle 1/2" cooling fittings on pump and engine

We run 1/2" cooling lines in our hulls, last year we worked 3/8 hose over them and as I'm coming closer to completion on my new build I'm debating upping the size. Has anyone drilled out the pump and re threaded for 1/2" fittings? What to do on the power factor exhaust manifold? I have 2 cooling lines and a billet DASA 970. Is the upgrade worth it? Will it even make a difference?

Bigger lines + bigger hose + the extra water they carry is gonna add some weight. Then you're wanting to drill out the pump and reduce the thrust? That Brawler isn't gonna be too tough if he can't get on plane. :eek:uttahere: :crutches: :joke:

I seriously doubt most will need the 1/2" lines. More of a race thing Imo. Wait till u run that 971 and see how cool they run. Too cool actually. U dont need more water u will need to restrict.

Then why did I run 1/2" cooling lines in my hull! Oh well they are there for when I have a 30 mil stroke 120mm bore engine that needs it.

Says someone who lives in new york. My lake gets in the 90's halfway through the summer.
I do agree that most dont need it, but some may.

We drilled out 1/2 inch fittings into my 155 pump for my Hurricane and all lines are 1/2 inch throughout our 898 in both my Hurricane and Zack's Circus and working perfect.

Max water temps here are mid 70s, maybe 80s if ur in a pond. Skis should have all the options available for every rider, but there are ones people you you and I will never need :)

When I went to the 950 in my Octane, I noticed it was a lot hotter. I was going to switch everything to 1/2" lines and fittings. Bought the tubes for the hull and had extra stainless welded around the bungs in the pump so there'd still be enough material there when I drilled it out. But then I just took every brass fitting and drilled them out as far as I could while still keeping a little wall thickness. That actually made a huge difference and so I'm still running 3/8" line.
