09 daytona flatwater freestyle clinic?

Trying to help 30 people with only 6 or 8 instructors all in the water at the same time is tough to do.
So...... It may be a good idea to put the instructors on the beach for everyone to ask questions.
After a good discussion about tricks and setups, let an instructor go out and demonstrate some stuff.
Then send out 1 -2 riders to make some attempts. bring em back in ....
YELL AT THEM :twak: and send out someone else :)
It can also be an opportunity to demo some Hot Rods. ( we'll have a few skis there to play with ) different strokes for different folks :)

OK, we're going to organize this event better than last year :Banane13: First off will be a better and safer location, I'm hoping to get up to see Nick sometime this Fall to check out all the spots and see which one works best, without all the boat traffic. There should be a handful of Pro riders there to help do some instructing, more to come on that later too.

It'll be here soon enough, I'm ready :wiggle:

And one more thing, I would suggest that everyone coming pick out a few tricks to focus on before you get there. Now since we already know everyone wants to learn a barrel roll and back flip we'll have those covered, or at least demonstrated.

To make this better for each person, it's up to you to know your skill level and what tricks you are likely to be able to pull off with a few pointers, if you're still learning to turn to the right, please don't ask us how to roll or flip, try something a little easier first :party:

As a general tip for everyone, I'd like to give everyone some advice on making a decent set-up wave. IMO, that's where everything begins, and for this to happen it's important to be able to make very quick and sharp 180 deg turns to the left (or right for some people). Consitency is the key to making your wave work for you, so between now and the ride go out and do some practice on this......if you're water is not ice by now :swordfight: If it is, come to my house before then and we'll get you dialed in good.

Great advice! That is where I think most people miss the boat, no punn intended, my self included. I can roll, if I could figure out the set up. I have been to a class before, and that is all I wanted to work on. If they want to do BF or BR, see if they can do the set up first and then take it from there.

If I was going to Daytona, I thought about offering the same thing. Last year there were people that really needed to just learn some basic stuff.

I just remember showing you one of my surf rolls and asking you how I can flatten it out instead of landing so tail first. I think your exact quote was "I'm not good at telling people how to ride.....I just do it"
BTW, your suggestion was to hit the wave at more angle and try that......it helped a ton.
Just remember.....You can do it:bananajump:

I never looked at this thread but considering I will be chilling all over FL from Dec 29th to Jan 19th I think I can make it....

I need to find some groups to meet up and ride with well I'm down there....
