'08 Superjet Break-in Help

I know this subject has been beat to death, I just purchased a 08' superjet and I'm breaking it in this weekend. I was just going to stick with what yamaha says to do.

Any other thoughts from experience?

Cheers,

i just kept it at different throttle positions, no going past half, or holding it in any specific throttle area. just go out there and ride it constantly moving the throttle around, not passing half. it kinda sucks but its got to be done. you can still cut pretty hard with those restrictions. good luck.. change the plugs afer break in. mine were black from all the excess oil. actuAlly they still are black.i didnt change mine yet...

thank you mike.
How is the new 08? Does it live up to the hype? The dealer was getting a chubby talking to me about it. Haha, Im losing sleep over it. Its going to be a long two tanks.

Oh yea, did you use yamalube for your break-in oil?

oh damn... nice ski man. I'm so excited I can't contain myself.

Kinda strange the dealership put the pre-mixed gas in my ski before I took it home, so it looks like I might have to roll yamalube. Oh well. Thanks for your help mike.

I looked at amsoil dominator, but their disclaimer wasn't what I was looking for...

* Not suitable for long-term use in outboard motors as a TC-W3 type oil, although excellent as a race oil for short-term use where motors are periodically inspected.

I've been using Maxima Super M at a ratio of 45:1 now that its broken in well. The dealer here also had the tank full when I got it, but they use Super M too!

I asked the dealer; he used yamalube, so I just continued with that this whole summer. I also run about 45:1.

yamalube is freaking spendy tho $$. a lot of my friends roll penzoil synthetic and havent had a problem ever, apparently its known to be a bit smokey. I'll check into the maxima.

Gold, your ski modded?

Hey, where are you at around here?:nana: Yamalube is good, but you can get Dumonde in bulk if you know where to go. Don't cheap out on oil.

Actually I'm down in Tacoma and I mostly ride a small lake out in the peninsula. You heard of Nahwatzel?

Yea that dumonde stuff sounds really good. Next summer I'll step it up with some premium racing oil. I just stuck out with yamalube because I know its safe, and I'm new to this sport.

Actually, I'm getting ready to winterize the boat this weekend. seems like summer just started. :(

Nice to meet you crab!

Jumpjet, havn't done too many mods yet except for intake grate, ride plate, pump cone, grips, and aesthetics. Didnt have much of a summer up here and money was tight. Will be looking at some engine/pump mods next season.
