We just got back from the Grand Rapids Boat show-it was awesome. When we were there we of couse looked at the '07 Superjets. Everything looks the same except the graphics (big deal) and the RETURN OF THE RIBS! WHY!!!!:aargh4:

What are you talking about? The ribs have been there since 1990.

The ski is an 05 or possibly 06 with a new VIN slapped on.

thanks for taking a picture of the same ski since 1996. the ribs are there for strength, they dont really make them for people to do what we do to them/aka slowly but surely beat them to death

I grind the down ribs for clearance for the B-Pipe chamber.

I have a 03 SJ and it doesn't have ribs, either do a lot of other guys We ride with. What are you guys talking about the same ribs since 96?

Are you saying you are the original owner of that ski, that it doesn't have ribs, and that you did not grind them off? That would be the first I've ever heard of that.

As far as I know: They have always been there. If they are not on your ski, someone ground them off.
The hull design of the bottom has changed only marginally over 16 years, and only once. Both designs have ribs.

Nope, Mine never had ribs. I am the second owner, but I know the first owner didn't cut them out. there would have been witness marks. MAYBE I have a SUPER TOP SECRET prototype!! :woot:

Any one else own a 03 SJ? The funny thing is that when I do a OEM parts search on some websites they don't list an 03, but I know it is one. Due to the VIN number.

never seen one without the ribs, that would mean a mold change and Yamaha doesn't believe in change on a SJ.

Honestly, I think the first owner cut them out and did a good job. I have never heard of or seen one without ribs from the factory.

Wow. Unless its reinforced I would reinforce it right now, those ribs arent just for pleasure, they're so the hull dont break in half. I would be afraid to run a stock un-enforced hull without em. Take pictures I wanna see
