02 SJ wont rev past 1/4 throttle...

Sound similar to what mine is doing. Sure worth a try. I dont see how you get to the filters though. It looks like they are in a hole.

After wide open runs it would bogg down and die,would restart but wouldnt take throttle. After feathering it for a while it would come back,but it took a while

mine did this when i took it to florida. Didnt realize it does that when it overheats. now i have 35 psi on my front cylinder and 120 on the back one. when i left for FL i had 162 on both. My plugs also seemed wet when i pulled them. looks like im going to have to pull the engine to rebuild it...

how hot is the motor when it starts running like junk? can you put your hand on it?

It does it when it first starts up then on.

Thanks to everyone that helped out. Cdubb had the same problem as me with the "cat hair" in the carb fuel filters. Cleaned them out and it screams. Im going riding!!!
