Cheers,
Already on both. Actually got botht ski's from gumtree as well.
Had a look at that trailer last week but he was only interested in swapping for a new single trailer.
Live in Melbourne, Australia.
Haven't been to any races. But everything ive seen over here is all off the shelf.
The exception being my mates stand up trailer wich I love. But can't be modified to fit. I love its compact size. The twin jerry can holders in front of the ski's and the checker...
So I can't find a suitable trailer to tow my 650sx and blaster 2. The double stand-up trailer I wanted to use wasn't wide enough. Nor long enough for the blaster.
And the single trailer the blaster is on, well we thought of building a second bunk above it that swings down. But I worry about the...
Don't worry it's dead now....
You're financial crisis caused all the manufacturers to focus on the domestic market. That along with some other issues killed our local car industry. So now all we get are rebaged chevys and fords.
Shame as we had some great cars.
The sedan version of the...
I'm happy and satisfied with taking this neglected and seized example, turning it into a running ski.
haf some issues with it bogging down and not getting past half throttle. Ater a day on the water playing with mixture screws and a jet change with no luck. I outsourced to someone more...
Engine is in
Wiring is connected.
Battery robbed from a motorcycle, starter thumbed.
And it kicks the starter is turning over the engine.
Hopefully tommorow I have time to drill the throttle bracket bigger (adjuster thread won't fit in) and plumb the carburetor to have her run on her own...
I'm at a guess 2 weeks off testing. About to tear the top end down again tonight to file the piston. (Not as dodgy as it sounds.... i reused the pistons as clearences were good, as was the skirt. But there is a small nick on one that has built up a little material on the edge of the piston...
Bolts sheared from over tightening.
The oven heats the crankcase evenly. Different metals expand at different temperatures. So it loosens the friction and lets the bolt come out easier.
Okay,
So in assembly the crankcase bolts sheared...
So off to a machine shop they went to be drilled for an extractor.
Then in my oven they went to make it easier
Finally its starting to come together
Far out this is taking longer than expected... i didn't realize it had been 12 months since I got the crank back. Life really does get in the way. Havent touched it since the last post
(3 years since original purchase and start of this thread)
44sbn carby and manifold on the way. With a 9/17...
Thread resurrection.
After chatting with some dedicated jet ski mechanics and service advisers where I worked. I sent the crank to a specialist, who rebuilt it. Along with machining a groove for an extra half clip in the crankcase to stop the bearing (and therefore crank) from moving.
Great...
At that price its disposable....
Its a cheap entry level ski. Been done with motorcycles for year's (learner bikes built in Taiwan or korea - or most scooters). Its not aimed at people looking for quality or I daresay anyone on this forum. They only need to last for a few years until people...
So far $900 for the ski
$600 in parts.
Probably another $500 to get it going. And a few hundred on top of that to get it back to a condition where Id be happy with it.
It's only worth 2.5k in good condition. So i keep telling myself at least I know it's condition. And all the internals are...
Yep no question im going to spend more money than I will get back if I sell it.
That being said if I cut my losses and buy another ski then there is a chance it will be a "timebomb"
So the plan is to continue the rebuild but cut down the cosmetics.
The crank will be rebuilt at work (pulled...
I really lack motivation....
But the engine is finally apart and being looked at by the mechanics at work.
Initial inspection is.
Bore needs replacing (so ill go to an oversized piston)
Crankshaft is salvageable but will need bearings and seals.
Unfortunately the head is frozen to the...
... nothing yet.
Haven't even got it started so far..
(2 months and counting with the project)
Cant wait for a flat battery out on/by the water though.
