No, the ankle's cool. It is where the toes attach to the foot. He landed flat, but his foot came out of the foothold. He came down with his foot on the back of the tray, so it basically bent his in half.
Actually, as he put it, he landed flat & he felt his ankle explode. He & the beach patrol were pretty sure he had broken it. There were some parts poking out that shouldn't have been there!

All in all, the Daytona Freeride was a blast. Can't wait for the next one.
