That's the way the Octane hood is and they seem to do fine. I've done pretty much the same thing on my squarenose project. I think the key is to make it pretty thick. The octane is probably about 3/16" thick in that area.

Like I said, in Feb it is just a few streets south of seabreeze, which is basically where lollipops is and about 2.5mi from the site of the freeride.

Just be mindful that a running 87 550 isn't going to be worth more than $600 in most markets. Before you pour much money into it, weigh your options and then realize that you need to buy a superjet. Just kidding about the superjet part, but don't dump too much money into an old 550.
Be aware that the zone moves monthly and the Feb zone will be south of Seabreeze rd (where lolipops is). I'm guessing that's about 2-2.5 miles south of where we were for the ride.
I won a Slippery wetsuit but I have an XL bottom and L top. Whoever won the L bottom and grabbed the XL top, PM me. I don't want to have to part out a wetsuit because it doesn't match. BTW, this is a gray and black wetsuit.
