the easy way to check for an air leak is to crank the ski and spray soapy water all over the motor. you will know it when you find the leak. could be air in the fuel line, loose intake, exhaust bolts or a gasket may have let go somewhere. the proper way to check it is to pressure test it.

i had this happen at your ride last year, come to find out the coupler was just wore out. somebody gave me a new one and the problem went away.

do you have access to another set of known good running carbs? like the ones in a riding buddies boat. would be worth a shot to bolt them on your ski and see what happens. how about the throttle cable? is it out of adjustment? i bet its goona be something simple. goodluck
