    300sx part deux

My solution is simple , since I am still at the pre -primer stage I am going to add a couple of elbow cups, the shape was right there on the ski already, so I splashed a mold and I will make a couple of cups and install them, no biggie and no life alert needed. The black spot marks...

    300sx part deux

I am doing some brainstorming here, this flat deck is being a real b!tch to reboard, especially in deep water , lets face it I am getting old lol , my thoughts are to incorporate some kind wedges into the angled part of side pieces that I can tyrf over so my elbows have some thing to leverage...

    650/X-2 Best carb for 650sx

I would go with a 38 kehin if you don't want to change everything else, you can use the stock manifold and bore it to fit the 38 carb and it will run good like that, or just ifind a newer 650 intake and bolt it on, if you go with anything bigger the exhaust is going to hinder the performance of...

    650/X-2 Best carb for 650sx

I am going to give you a word of advice here, take it or leave it , most peoiple don't know this but the carbs and exhaust are a matched set on 650SX's this is why a lot of people are disappointed when bolting on a 44 carb. The skis that came with 28mm carbs also came with exhaust manifolds...

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

Steve Dobernic , the guy at Bad Bones proved a long time ago these engines can take a lot of fuels if they are set up properly to do so.

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

I agree going from a single 38 to a 44 will provide a notoicable gain even with a stock exhaust pipe, Kawas are gas hogs they need a single 44 or dual 38's to reach their highest potential.

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

Unless you have a whole lot of motor dual 38's will do all you need it to do, to run dual 44's you probably need lots of porting and a full pipe, in the end you will have a really fast ski that is not a lot of fun to ride. My ski was ported pretty heavily, I ran wiseco windowed pistons for a PJS...

THe only thing good about BN carbs is if you could twist adjustment screws you could tune them.

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

Yes if they were 38 SBN's maybe so , these were 38 BN carbs, you have to remember when I got in the 550 reed motor game, I had a 550 reed motor before the 550sx reed ski was ever released, I also had one of the first dual carb intake manifolds, Hot Products was the only company making them at...

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

I set one up with an SBN 44, it ran really well also , not sure what Kevbo is talking about PP550s came with BN 44's , not sure why a reed motor with a lot more compression would have different carburetion requirements, trust me it will run fine on either a SBN 44 or dual 38' s, mine started off...

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

A long time ago, in a land far far away you could buy just the section of the Keihin carbs that contained the seat, alas those times are gone now and now all you can do is replace the needle, but I will give you a motorcycle tip we use a lot. A lot of motorcycle CARB seats are not replacable...

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

You can use the 650 SX style that bolts to the motor mount or use one off a Yamaha 61X style that goes under the carb, it will have to be modified slightly for the bigger Kawi throttle cable though, an ADA throttle wheel will sort the cable length issues out.

Converting 550sx to PJS Intake Manifold & Mikuni SBN 44 ?

That carb adaptor works fine, bolt it on the manifold with no gasket then take a sanding drum on a die grinder or a drill and match the intake to the adaptor, then assemble it.

    Spark plugs in watercraft

Been running BR7ES BR8ES in everything for years, no issues, an MSD ignition will fire anything , the older type total loss ignitions do not have the spark energy to fire resistor plugs and or resistor caps or wires, I have run into that issue a few times , most of your basic ignitions like...
