Is it OK to copy a Blowsion paint job?

I couldn't copy it either. I use paint instead of holographic stickers. IMHO: Leave the stickers for the sponsor logos.

Another way to promote the sport

Might as well just give out free crack cocaine.... You do that and you'll have them hooked.

    I finally bought one...

I wish you were on the other side of the country. You'd have paint. Congrats, Daylite

Do I have to sand it all the way down??

I like to wet sand with soapy (Dawn) water. Then wipe it down with laquer thinner. Then hit it with a tack cloth right before painting. Don't touch your boat once you have started this process with your bare hands. I use vinyl gloves through the whole process. All of my paint jobs have...

All My Crazy Friends on myspace

Has anyone seen the AMCF myspace page yet? http://www.myspace.com/allmycrazyfriends Not sure if someone already posted this here or not. It has a nice teaser with Visser doing the Seadoo promo on the 3-D which I think was shot during the weekend of the last O-Side competition. Daylite

Do I have to sand it all the way down??

If the other paint is on there to stay and isn't showing signs of lifting then you should be fine with just sanding everything smooth. I usually sand everything down with 400 grit then after washing and degreasing it shoot the whole thing with an epoxy primer, and my stuff turns out just fine...

    Custom painted Blaster

I finished this a few weeks ago, but have been too busy to put it back together until last weekend. It's pretty much all stock except intake, rideplate and the MX handlebars. First time painting a sitdown. It belongs to a friend of mine who wanted it to look like a sunset, so I kind of went...

Right on man!! Someone should get them some of the pics Ronny took of Pete. Some of the Daytona shots were 100 times better than the one on the website. Daylite

Pretty good site for paint questions

I found a hotrod forum that has a handful of write-ups dealing with painting. It has info on the different types of products, a glossary of terms and some nice articles on prep and painting techniques. If you are thinking about taking the step to paint your boat and are not sure where to...

need help with new paint job

I agree with painting below the bond line on a stand-up, it REALLY takes the paint in a whole new direction and looks complete. The only thing that kind of stands out to me is that you have a nice shape for the green on the front then for the rest of the ski it just kind of turns into a fat...

    Fullgaz hi res photos

Great pictures Mike! This year they'll be even better. Rider might look the same, but the boat won't. :headbang: :headbang:

    New Oceanside Crew Video

Nice video Jerry! But unless you are using an IMAX camera it's not worth even looking at. J/K I have seen too many LAME and BORING projects that were shot with the best gear that money can buy. I don't think the picture quality has to be high definition or shot on 70mm film for a story to...

    Any advice on painting

It seems like there are thousands of threads about the correct way to paint your ski. I'd agree with the above posts about prepping. There are a bunch of different types of paint to choose from. I tend to go with the automotive clear coat/base coat stuff and have had some good experiences...

    Daylite's custom SX - February 2006

The logos are stickers, the red spatters are, well, red spatters, I put the ski on it's side and threw paint at it, everything else is airbrushed. There was going to be a different girl on the other side but the first one took so long I was pretty burnt out so I figured I'd just put my...

    Double Barrel Roll Challenge !

Ross, Amazing stuff man. I agree with Pete about tucking in more. You've got the huge slow rotation thing going on. As soon as you tighten it up your going to be landing them flat. You guys are really pushing the limits, it's inspiring to watch. Everyone on this board knows you are on...
