You just haven't seen what I have seen. The plate I saw modified made it look soooo simple. I rode some Yamaha's that made me consider this swap. When I get my 800 X2 done, I will do the Yamaha swap in my other X2.

I would just got the plate route. If you are worried about the case bolts, you could also make it mount to the Yamaha bed plate mounts. I think grinding all the ribs out and all that is unnecessary. A plate is a lot more simplier and reversible if you go back to a Kawasaki engine.

Crank case bolts. The other actual bed plate mounts are more difficult to line up.

I remember the first side front sponsons were just flat sheets of plastic/plexiglass/SMC/Whatever tha twas screwed to the sides of skis. Then at some point in time Blowsion came out with the more 3D parobolic shaped "tubbies".

You cried about doing this plate forever so don't act like you are not doing it for nothing. Tell John to send you a billet Yamaha coupler for mock up. Also when people buold high HP Yamaha engines they use billet couplers with a Kawasaki style dampner. There is a reason for that...
