from the .mp4 wiki page:
MPEG-4 Part 14 is based on ISO/IEC 14496-12:2004 (MPEG-4 Part 12: ISO base media file format) which is directly based upon Apple’s QuickTime container format.[2][3][4][5][6] MPEG-4 Part 14 is essentially identical to the MOV format, but formally specifies support for...
the HD ones are using an .MOV wrapper of some sort but the audio codec they use is not friendly at all... with the SD version it was a windows only problem but now pc and mac users I have talked to all have to convert the files before editing... the ugly downside to an otherwise great little cam...
Until I started working on O&D it was hands down the best thing I had done... I love Daytona and the good friends that gather there every year to ride, party, and have a good time. Hats off to Nick still, I deal with alot of event organizers and he is one of the best in terms of deciding what he...
Im not even sure how many hours of footage it wound up being but its over 2tb in raw footage alone... I think the project file has over 3,500 clips in it. Most of the trimming I did was tightening up the interview stuff (cutting out alot of "ummms" and "uhhhhs" kind of stuff), all of the riding...
right on... I know the pain of losing a cam, just don't want to see it happen to anyone else lol... hopefully that rig works out and you get some nice footage!
I am currently wrapping this beast up... a draft has been done but it was pretty unanimous from the few who "tested" it that it was too long... so some time was shaved off, things fixed, graphics changed, etc... currently the revision that is rendering out now is 1hr 34min and change... still...
What is that shaft made out of? I have seen some pretty impressive "mounts" get shredded with the quickness once they hit the water... ya might want to think about a back up tether system of some sort to save it if that pole goes south on you...
The day we were there is was breaking in like a 250' half moon/circle thing(basically the surf wrapped itself around some BIG rocks out there). We camped out on the right but I watched the other side all day...
Some of the best shots I got were of Tom getting deeper than almost everyone else...
I have to convert all of our GP footage to get it to run smooth in Premiere...Final Cut has the same problem I believe...they use some weird audio codec that gums everything up...
gee... thanks guys!! The GoPro cams I don't think were ever intended for anything more than 1st person POV, which would be why the wide angle lens won out on the HD model... it would be interesting to talk them into running a few one offs with different lenses for different applications... hmmmm...
WOW!! I am always so humbled by everyone's responses to the stuff I release, makes me feel like I am on the right path when things can look pretty cloudy. This type of video is more where I feel the need to go (with more interviews, etc) that show the basis behind the riding, behind the trips we...
