I actually sandblasted the interior engine compartment on my wife's 1988 X2 before epoxy glassing the similar to your's nose damage from the inside. Then painted it white, with IRRC, Valspar Tractor and Implement paint with Hardener.

Curious are both the skis Square Noses (i.e., SN)? Or is the 701 a Round Nose (i.e., RN)? What is the year of manufacture of each ski? (The last two digits on the HIN plate on the right rear bond rail.)

Well @fastgtfairlane and @Sparkplug both believe that you should shorten the pole. And you can take their advice to the bank. So, probably good to ask how best to accomplish that on your 550. (That way I can learn too . . . )
