Custom/Hybrid My $1700 MSD solenoid problem

This journey began with an MSD starter solenoid going bad, sticking closed, and ultimately caused wallet carnage of ~ $1700. yep, after adding it all up, including shipping of parts, my friggin MSD starter solenoid(s) going bad cost me $1700, not including the alcohol nor my non-existent time...

    Custom/Hybrid Replacing bendix bushing(s)

On the McMaster Carr bushings (solid bore) I use grease and a 12mm precision ground rod and they pop out like butter. With OEM bushings with the grease groove inside, i like using the tap method. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Custom/Hybrid Replacing bendix bushing(s)

I plan to post another thread about how much money an MSD starter solenoid going bad cost me, and my experience with MSD solenoids and MSD themselves, but for this I thought I’d share how I replaced my bendix bushings in case and front cover in 5 mins without heat, nuts/spacers, or a dremmel...

    Fx1 pump

I put in a Dasa 850 and 144 pump in mine many years ago. Yep, more hookup and bottom end for sure, but I can honestly say it wasn’t necessarily more fun. A lot of work, and a lot of details to get it right (like hogging out the intake). Doing it over, I’d skip the pump and stay with a JM built...

Freestyle Best lithium battery for total loss?

^ Same here, after one went bad this year. The newer AG's have o-rings between terminal and case. A single layer of electrical tape around seam as insurance won't hurt and you can remove for warranty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Freestyle Best lithium battery for total loss?

I can understand how the wrong charger and/or overcharging could cause a problem. But are you suggesting spontaneous combustion is also possible? I've used lithium batteries in RC and ski's for years without issue, and even had them in motorcycles with 'standard' charging system. Means...

What's your view look like today?

I think it's a good balance between form and function, and one of the most beautiful pseudo-American designs. The motor is pulled back and front wheel are pushed forward extending the nose but also giving amazing balance. Rear, eh.. kinda just ends. But business is over at that point. The...

What's your view look like today?

This is my first FFR car, it's a Gen II daytona coupe. previously I had a 1965 Shelby Mustang clone I raced, white/blue. This coupe had a alum 351W block, stroker crank (427), dry sump, and fully worked heads. 650 hp at the crank, naturally aspirated on pump gas, IRS, and 2200lbs. Manual...

    Thrust ez drain issue

Is it a light weight ball or solid? I had that problem but my scupper ball was like a large ping pong ball and found it deformed and would stick under high pressure. A solid delrin ball fixed the problem for me. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    the trivial complaints thread

Had a $64 MSD solenoid go bad.... while riding. Run away starter from stuck magnets in solenoid. Toasted starter, blew up bendix, wasted 16 cell AG battery, almost lost ski, longest swim in years. All in, about $800 of damage. While on vacation with 4 free days for riding. Overnight starter...

    1100 TPE build

Mine is set up form P&P with FS49'sV5 and a Powerfactor pipe. I also run total loss. It's a brute, highly recommend because there is tons of good info/specs on that exact set-up from Phil, Eric, Ed at FS, and many others when you need help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Custom/Hybrid Learn from my mistake

I'm torn on this. Did it once a long time ago and made in-Situ starter replacement very difficult trying to clean out the 1211. On my Dasa in My fX-1 I just used some grease on the o-ring, no sealant, and it remained water tight. Joe Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Custom/Hybrid Learn from my mistake

It was a catastrophic failure. It wasn't dropped or hit in any way. Vibration may have caused this. The magnets seem quite brittle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
