When the stator section is flipped 180, does it no longer allow the dowel pins to be used?

Well yeah, but in order for the midshaft housing to make a good seal, doesn't it need to be flush against the firewall?

One thing I never understood about shimming the mid shaft was how the deal would be affected? If you shim it, doesn't it reduce the amount of pressure on the midshaft seal?

Yeah I found it, still looks like it requires you do do all the shinning and stuff beforehand and use the tool to test...man, I was hoping there was some sort of tool that would hold the pump/shaft square so all you had to do is figure out where to put shims and where you needed to clearance...
