The differential is getting water in it thru the breather vent every second, if it's hot it will suck water in as it cools off. My brother used to launch his pontoon too deep like that, his Ford rear differential got real noisy after 1 winter, lol!
Fs1 isn't a 2012/2013,theres a fs2 on this Site listed as 2011, Evo's were 2013. And I don't think $10g is much of a deal either, most likely it won't flat water flip either. In its day it was an innovative hull but not by today's standards.
I'm pretty sure the boss you are talking about is a internal line, I had a friend drill into a boss and exactly that happened! Investigate it or just put a nipple where you are sure there's nothing.
If your starting from scratch, both will cost about the same if you go aluminum flywheel, about $2-300 less if you only go lightened flywheel, and that's with used stock stator and flywheel pricing. So you decide if the extra $300 now is worth it, the power difference on that motor will be big...
I sold my PFP that blew couplers over and over. 3 years on my RRP pipe and waterbox and original coupler! It looks great still. And the tuning was easier too.
