    Metal through an 865

Most of the problems with the 865's that I heard of, have been with the wrist pin bearings. They were perfect on my motor.

    Metal through an 865

MYTH BUSTED. Kenny and I tore the motor 100% down today. Crank has (2) bad bearings in it. The rear cylinder bearing cage has a constant TICK,TICK,TICK sound when you spin it. Def a bad spot somewhere on the bearing cage. Also the frontmost bearing on the crank is very noisy. Was a...

    Metal through an 865

Thanks Gordon. One thing this experienced convinced to, is to buy a bore scope so I can check the pistons alot more frequently.

    Metal through an 865

If there was not any damage to the cylinder above one of the transfer ports, going up the side of the piston I would agree 100% with you. Also I never said I do not have some type of DETO issue, just that something else was definetly going on as well. I am also removing my EPIC because this...

    Metal through an 865

There is random hits over the center of the piston/dome if you have it upclose and infront of you, not just squishband.

    Metal through an 865

Thanks Tricky, the crank being the only last possible source of the metal has made my descision. We have not had it out of the cases yet.

    Metal through an 865

This has been causing me horrible mental anguish over the past few days......LOL. I decided this evening to go on the side of caution and pull the entire motor apart and give it the yearend overhaul now. New OEM crank, seals, topend, and bore to 865. I just cant stomach the chance of the...

    Metal through an 865

After spending hours going over the motor I am making the gamble that it was a fluke thing that came in through the intake or possibly a piece of the screen itself. Reeds/screws were fine, epoxy was fine, carb butterflys fine, crank smooth and bearings looked fine. We ran a magnet through...

    Metal through an 865

Thanks for the info. I was expecting it to hurt response some, but if there is a chance it can stop something from going through the motor I'll give it a try. If it totally sucks will have to reevaluate.

    Metal through an 865

Its not from DETO, the smash marks matched up on the on dome, and you can follow the path it took out the transfer port, up the cylinder, and sid eof piston. Only mark on the piston or cylinder. We checked everything over as good as possible, then cleaned the piston and dome up. Reassembled...

    Custom/Hybrid Shawn_NJ's XS865 RICKTER FS2 Build

BTW the new seadoo cageless wristpin bearings look 100x better then the Wiseco ones. They easily have 2x the rollers.

    Custom/Hybrid Shawn_NJ's XS865 RICKTER FS2 Build

Nope. We checked everything and cant find any signs of what it was. There were a few tiny daytona sand pebbles in the bottom of the hull? Who knows. Reeds, case epoxy, crank, wristpins.....all looked perfect.
