Always remove the hood before cranking regardless. Check the valve like Quinc stated.

If your hood has crackes you need to address the structure, not just filling voids.

Thats an old school freestyle trick, think Keith Head and a few others had similar setups........ Think Keith's was using old Milk Jugs. It worked.

My TLR 48/44 Single was great but required constant tweaking. Air Temps, Humidity changes and you were turning screws.

They work well up to 800cc. But above that they just cannot flow enough. I ran a conversion for a while. Stock 44 it was really smooth power. With a TLR Modified 44 (He bored the bottom half to 48mm) the bottom end response was incredible. But not a great setup for cruising or high speed...
