I know I'm not the first to do it and I also know some guys will say they would never risk putting their ski on some cheap Chinese made hitch hauler, but for $60 it works pretty good. Good enough for my beater SN :) Just had to add some 2x6's and carpet I had around the shop and now I don't have...
Exactly. I built my first flatwater hull and it was a rude awakening. I think I had convinced myself once I spent the money the hull would essentially flip itself :) The reality is that it takes huge balls and skill and I don't think I have either. I'm back to riding a POS SN and loving every...
I have to admit there are some big red flags brought to our attention with this video, but I also have to say its pretty tacky for Yamaha to make a video like this. Maybe focus on developing a better watercraft rather than attacking another brand. You usually see attacks like this when someone...
The right way would be to torque the cases without the crank installed and use a bore gauge to verify the dimensions, but that's overkill for a do-it-yourselfer. In reality a quick visual inspection of the surfaces and feeling for any variances on the bearing saddles will give you an idea if...
Your question isn't really as absurd as the responses are making it sound, but it is a little misguided. The dimension of bearing surfaces of the cases is a critical one but it's a slight interference fit rather than a clearance so you can't check it with plastigauge. You don't see as many...
Yeah this will probably be about as reliable as an old 440 or 550 :) Already been thinking about making some deep lug snowmobile tracks fit on this thing.
@MCrider, tracks aren't very aggressive, but I was shocked how well it did in the powder. Had it in knee deep snow in the mountains and never got stuck. They are original and dry cracked so hopefully they don't completely fall apart anytime soon. As you can imagine replacements aren't available.
It has a Kohler 400 twin cylinder 2 stroke (the later models had the 440). Basically the same as what you would have found in any sled back in the day. Has a CVT clutch set-up and has clutches and brakes on the driveshaft that control steering. You turn the bars and it opens the clutch and...
I bought this 1971 Playcat amphibious tracked vehicle a few weeks ago and I'm thinking its going to become a beach cart for my superjet. I think I'm just going to bolt a couple bunks on the back almost like a hitch hauler and keep it simple. Kinda excited to use it come spring. Posted a link of...
I've sold a bunch of WPS lithiums to guys on the forum and so far everyone has been happy. They are new to the market so longevity is still to be determined.
