that sounds like your main jet is rich to me. If you hammer the throttle to half throttle how does it feel vs full throttle?

The tuning screws on the carb a B to get to.. But running a bit rich now that its 100+ outside I am around 55mph going off garmin watch. Plan this winter to do a fresh top end (still on original 25 year old pistons/bore and add the R&D advance timing kit for more low end.

2017 sxr 1100 swap. Running well overall but could use some more bottom end punch. Shes a pig but, makes riding in the chop not so bad.

Try it. I was able to get everything to line up without shaving them down. keep everything loose and slide them out if needed to lower.

Take a flat file to it and your intake to make sure everything is flat; and/or use more rtv. Also check your fuel filter. I had a brand new filter that was sucking in air at the seam in the plastic..
