Replaced my steering today. Ordered the complete RRP steering & bars from Thrust. I really like this set up, moved my bars another .75-1 in forward. Really smooth, a lot better set up than umi I had. (No more nut to come lose)!
Still gotta do some cutting on my pole pad. I had to trim my pole...
I will let you know how mine holds up. I'm learning flat water on mine (Tem's Carbon Jet 55lb hull) I would say I got 100 + FAILED BF's on mine off boat wakes & few in the surf & my hull has no cracks!
Pat & Stoyer are riding Xmetal hulls which are built by the same guy.
I would say a light...
CP Watercraft makes a nice Carbon Ride plate Cheap, Also Toby has a really nice Carbon ride plate that is long 24/7 design that you can cut or leave long.
I run CP's on my Surf Ski & Toby's on my Carbon Jet BF hull
Check the cable support on the pole. I had that wear out on my UMI pole & it would come lose & allow the cable to move.
Same thing, it would turn but no throw.
Best to watch some video's, I think everyone has a different body position. Once you try it you just keep doing it until you land one.
Like lucas said never, ever let go! I know first hand!
That passport crap sucks, my old man is Canadian. I hope your crew gets it worked out in time. I'm riding one of Tem's Carbon Jet's. Light weight hulls don't ride anything like oem.
You can check my build out

Right now the only way to get one of Tem's hulls is through Me or Jetmanica. Chris is building one & maybe another local in Orlando. Tem is a really cool guy, will work with you to get the perfect Hull that you want.
My Ski...
1.75 in. just on the bottom & it looks factory. Not the best picture but you can see the ride plate is standard SJ & you can see the rear bolt hole in the ride plate.
Top deck is factory SJ, no fuel fill, No bow eye in front.
