Pulled a 'Nothing' in 7ft surf in FL in front of my sponsors. I had a worn out spring, missed the pole, 30ft in air with nothing to land on but a very light weight and boyant ski. Not a good combination.

Careful with the lack of spring. That's how my freestyle career ended. If you can't figure out a spring, do what Rickster does but that kills the feel of a stand up. There are springs out there that will work on those poles. Look at a farm equipment store for some different colored springs...
Just a short trip to north central Texas. I'd get it if I thought my boys would need it. They where both conceived and delivered on stand ups so the "Wedge" wont be necessary.

Yes, beach camping is allowed up to 3 nights in a row with a Port a beach permit($10 at any local store). The limit is not very enforceable. Designated areas are Between the jetty and the pier and a few blocks south of the pier to the state park. Not sure about camping near the Packery...
Here's a good cheap hotel/rv resort with a nice HOT hot tub. It's right in port A just a minute from the beach. Ken the owner always gets us a good price.
