Steve, I love the short small hull in the surf.. With a flush plate that comes on the hull which is perfect for flatwater sucks in the surf. You fight the nose high, wants to tail stand all the time. You can ride it, but your fighting it more than enjoying it.. Add a long plate, makes it fun...

Yes you can consider your 970cc a (1000).. The XS1000 start at 992cc, etc.. As for my 896cc its only a 4 mil stroker so the torque isn't there like a 10 mil... Even that being said Lucas rode it and said that motor in a Freak would be a winning combination for a 900cc or under comp motor...

Yes going to paint to match and then install the oem stickers... Friend of mine says the tom21 hood is nice, but the 24/7 is king... 2 guys in our group have fix steers one with 24/7 other has tom21... I guess the 24/7 fit better... Will see when I start building
