They can get corroded and be a real biotch to remove. Be sure you have the nut side off before you try and take out the bolt use a 6 point socket so you don't strip it.
I have a raider mid shaft that's about twice as long as a superjet one you could cut to length and remachine thread's for the coupler end if you want it just pay shipping. snowxr makes aluminum pump shoes they are quality pieces. Lookin good I love the js 550's.
You can grab the shaft in a vise beyond the seal and bearing surface closer to the coupling. That way you will not scar up the seal surface, then heat it up and it will come right off with a large pair of channelok pliers or a pipe wrench, I have a chain wrench I like to use if you have one...
You will have it in the back of your mind all summer if you don't change it now. I alway's have a little bit of oil in there just because I like to soak my bendix in trans. fluid I have never had a problem with one since on kawi or yamaha. I disagree with some saying you can have a air leak on...

JJEEZZ Tough crowd! The engine is sitting in and all lined up to some precision built coupler's from Carl at Cold Fusion I might add them's some sweet azz product's. I cannot post pictures tonight because my shop computer is really fugged up in fact I am amazed it even work's quite honestley lol
