    I can just pull off the bottom case and replace the seal? I never thought about it that way... I was thinking I would need to tear the whole thing apart.... I'm thinking that I will need new ones....part of that seal is up on the coupler....

    I see what your talking about....They are on the inside one....your telling me that's wrong? It should be on the outside one? Yes its matt....Back in the day when he lived in East Germany.

    I remember talking about that with matt when I put these in last summer.....I'd like to think that he told me the right way and that I did it like he told me to.... Now these finger like things stick out towards the coupler? Or do they go towards the shaft?

    Here is a pic.... Spring looks to be intact. The inner seal looks to be ok as well...though I cant really see much.

    What would cause a crank seal to blow out??? Just a bad seal? Or do I have some other issue that I need to be looking for?

    I used the mats you can find in the garden department at Home Depot....you know the ones that people use for kneeling down on when they are pulling weeds... it took about three of them to fill the try..,.. but they are holding up fine after one season. The stuff looks just like the foam that...
