I usually pull a wire out of a wire brush and use the wire with carb cleaner to clean out the fuel passages.
also with carbs, I make sure I set the screwdriver in the screw and shock the corrosion with a couple of taps from a hammer on the back of the screwdriver to get those fuel block screws...
get the plastic tire levers so you don't mar up you rim. when installing the tube blow it up with your mouth, that help hold it in the proper place and not get pinched while installing.
Sounds like it could be a bad start stop switch. Jumper the brown and red wires together just outside the electrical box and see if that gets it to turn over.
I ride a d cut. I've weighed 190-225, I've never had a problem with it porpoising and it increases handling while still being able to slide out when you want. After riding with one for so long, the stock plate feels way to slippery to slash with.
