    94 SN “cellulite Cindy”

It’s just how it worked out. I was listening to slightly Stoopid and said f-it. I’m not even a partaker.

    94 SN “cellulite Cindy”

I’m kinda used to working up to a scribed line. I milled down the JB weld on the cases this morning but have decided to wait to do any porting until I can research more.

    94 SN “cellulite Cindy”

Got some more time on the ski the last couple days. I was given a couple cylinders to mess around with. First was to see if I could get the cylinders out using my heat treat oven. They come out pretty easy after about 5 minutes soak or so at 420°. Then I got the @yamanube porting templates, put...

I hit up Tom Rill on Facebook a couple weeks ago and had him send me some tubbies. These things are massive and glorious. Fed ex dropped them off and I had them on in about 30 minutes. They are currently only dry fit, they’ll get fully glassed when I start the glass work. Thanks @tom21.

    94 SN “cellulite Cindy”

Got a little bit of an update today. Since the ski has been on fire previously the hood seal tray was wayyyy more bowed than a square is supposed to be. Since I am going to fully reinforce the inside with new glass I wanted to try and straighten this out before glassing in new material. I read...

As I’m reading this on my phone and have watched surf builds on YouTube I feel highly attacked hahahaha

With these projects that are a hobby, you can’t value time or they will always be a loss. I have more time than money and enjoy projects and the build. On my previous boats that I’ve had, I’ve always made money on them to where each new boat was more than the previous. Before even starting this...

    94 SN “cellulite Cindy”

I’m interested in the hours only. My normal hourly rate welding or doing welding inspection would make this thing the price of a GP1 lol. I just want to see what it takes. So far I’m doing pretty decent compared to build threads I have read. I also find that logging the time I work faster than...

    94 SN “cellulite Cindy”

I went out last week with the O’side crew and got the bug, but my square I just finished in April is too nice for the salt for me. I need a surf boat. Some horse trading happened and I managed to bring home “Cindy”. Cindy has had a rough life, she’s has some patches, she’s bare, she’s rough, and...

Other What did you fab up today? A thread for the home fabricators!

I made one for a jet boat years ago that was an angle iron frame bolted to the stringers, welded to a 2” pipe that stuck out the transom and sat on a pipe stand. The bow eye had a cherry picker attached to it. It was sketchy but I didn’t drop it!

Yeah taking one day out of my life to fab this up so I don’t have to spend weeks like this again is way worth it.

Last weekend I rode surf for the first time and got hooked. I decided to make a lumpy old square I got last week into a surf boat. Knowing that I have a ton of glass and paint in my future I couldn’t imagine doing it the same way that I did it last spring when I restored my current square. I...

Ahh, my shop is full of miller dynasty’s, the new ones we got have water cooler on demand. Had to go into the hidden settings and turn it to always on. Students don’t pay enough attention to things to have them set to on demand. We go through enough torches as it is. My personal machine is set...

My day job is teaching welding. Shouldn’t have a water solenoid, water cooled should run open. Gas solenoid should trigger when you hit the foot pedal. Hit me up with questions and I’ll do my best to help.

SN Tray Revamp & Exhaust Install

This is how I handled the rear eye after underpad and kicker. I ground straight down with a 2” die grinder 36 grit pad. Then I cut pieces to fit and box it in.

Last weekend I grabbed a Protec pipe. Fabbed up a lord mount for it today. Grabbed the iso mount from grainger for $3. McMaster had stainless but was gonna ship from NJ and I’m trying to get on the water this week.

Who does high quality Aluminum repair?

Me personally, I’d either make new tabs, or I’d bevel each side and tig weld it to the base plate. I welded my homemade bracket.

They’re in the wheels already. Basically wheelbarrow wheels. I just made 5/8” axles for it
