Raise compression=more power, a good thing.
Although from what I have read, 170-180 (I am in this range with my milled head) you must use 93 octane fuel.
Any higher compression like 200 range, you must use a racing fuel=big $$$ and possibly hard to come by.
Hmmmm, never had that problem, hadn't really heard it either. Maybe yours is located too low. Mine is maybe 3 inches above the bond flange/bumber... see pic below.
