I did where the shoe sits down in with a dremel and I used an angle grinder with a 60 grit sandpaper wheel for opening up the pump tunnel the dremel is very slow and a grinder seems a little big you don't want to mess up your through hull fittings so that's what makes it tuff
It's tough! Plan on going through and glassing back after I did this the 122 shoe filed with epoxie sounds easier but all said and done it works out just a lot of cutting on the shoe and the hull
Pump seems to be in mates! I'm going to need 0 shims in the front maybe 1/16 of shims in the back to center the shaft and waaa laa after grinding the x bracing in the ride plate it will sit 100% flush with no shims. O and I need to some how cut my pump shoe I started this project with 10...
Who says you can't get 144 from a fx1 pump tunnel ? Over my time of researching this build iv read how you may need to do some grinding and glass work to get everything to fit properly to anyone looking to put a 144 pump in a fx1 you must do"by my standards " a lot of grinding and glass work...
Awesome So what your tellin me is when their new and not ridden the crap
Out of their nice and tight but after a few different trips around the lake she gets all loose again spinning around like a free bird
So today I rebuilt my 144 sj pump, oil seals and bearings, and when I calculatedly pressed together "hammered the sh**" I noticed it was smooth to turn but would not just free spin maybe a little tight feeling if you will sooooo is this right ?
Looking back I wish I would have just filled it with epoxie and put it back BUT this is going to be the "best fx1 ever" so naturally I jumped in with both feet and yaked the old and am currently craming in the new
Jet maniacs pump shoe I do have some talents in the relm of grinding and glossing but idk we'll see how it goes I might do all this work and then go search for a doner ski or a tom 21 pump tunnel I'm just in over my head at that point that's a lot of cutting my friend I'll check out your...
Imma take a lot of glass out of the tump tunnel I want to be able to bolt in any 144 pump when I'm done. I need to go down into the pump tunnel toward the tray about 3/8 of an inch which I'm guessing is the thickness of the glass there at the moment
Wow tensions are high on my innocent questions thread . id like to touch on a few topics
First off I will win the E.C.F.R stab trophy with this ski that is being built as water tight as a frogs ass. I'd like to reference my first stab last year That left me swamped out as I returned from...
O it's a problem alright lol unless I'm going for some sort of "air chair" hydro foil designe but good idea on just grind the glass that way I can put any pump into it in the future with out modifying
I have magical ways of
Cutting it down to be flush with my hull I'm just wanting to make sure I'm on the right track iv read countless pump threads but you know how it is everyone thinks there own situation is special when it comes to chopping there baby lol so
The shoe is down as far as it...
So I'm building what is to be the best fx1 on planet earth. I'm at the portion where I'm hacking the pump tunnel of my ski to squeeze in a 144 pump shoe and I have it allll the way down and its sticking out about 3/4 of an inch any thoughts on this ? Iv read I'll have to do some cutting just...
