I agree mechanical injection is rubbish, but I recon I could put together a basic EFI kit for the same as the cost of buying and rebuiling a set of carbies and buying an MSD/EPIC. (run both fuel and spark from the ECU). Obviously this doesn't include labour costs; it would much longer to develop...
There is a company in Perth who specialise in direct injection 2 stroke engines.. They do work for polaris, seadoo etc which make the 2 stroke much better from an emission / efficiency point of view...
I have built loads of megasquirts. The best one would be a specially designed MS1 which was called 'barebones' and designed for motorbikes (never sold though). It measured about 10x5cm so could be easily installed.
A regular MS1 would also work, but would take up a bit of space.
It would be a...
Thanks guys. I do ride in salt water.. I'm fairly sure it was the switch as I was able to unplug the black/white and get spark, plug it back in and loose spark. It has run ok since fixing it..
What would be a more permenant solution? I would prefer to service the switch rather than replace...
I agree. I have a lot to do with classic small fords, which is a similar small market. Personally, I give the company / person a chance to explain, otherwise I post about it on a forum, explaining what I ordered and why I wasn't happy (and i also make sure I post my positive experiences, because...
So I've been having an intermittent misfire, and the ski has died a few times (no spark). Anyway to cut a long story short I worked out yesterday it is the stop button on the stop start switch.
I took the switch to bits and it all looked ok (no corrosion) so I gave it a clean, sprayed it with...
I bought an ADA head a few weeks ago and the studs rusted overnight. I can't say I was that happy..
I understand regular steel has its advantages, but there are pleanty of comparable grades of stainless...
What is the best way to install the Bendix? In the past I've just installed it dry (just grease on the bushes) and this has worked ok, but this time it feels a little bit sticky when you actuate it.
What (if anything) should I lubricate the bendix with? Or should I degrease, wash and dry it...
Agreed. Seems like a weird question to me.
Everyone seems to get really hung up thinking they need big 4x4s to tow stuff. It'll be fine, just drive within the limits of the car.
Just to add to the info measuring between the plug leads I get 16.5k ohms. The book says I should see 4.5k ohms; I assume the leads I have put in have more resistance than the std superjet ones. Will this cause any dramas?
Cheers
Andrew
Ok first off 96 SJ with a bog standard engine.
Last weekend I was riding in the surf when the ski started to misfire really bad. I noticed when starting it I would get electric shocked through the throttle lever. I thought it looked like a damaged ignition lead as one of mine was broken (had...
This happens to mine too if I ride through weed too slow. It gets right in and stuck and the ski stops going anywhere but revs up. Check the intake is clear right the way through.
Most fibreglass boats and that aren't painted.. ski boats with flashy metallic finishes have a clear gel coat don't they?
Personally I'd prefer the painted, but just curious..
Just out of interest, do Yamaha know that you are copying their hull? I doubt that they're going to like the fact that you're stealing their IP (the hull shape) to make money.. just my 2c.
Thanks for the answers everyone.
227 I have been riding for about 4 months, so yeah I'm a beginenr. Only reason I thought something may be up is someone else rode my ski and also thought it was harder to turn right.. It just feels more balanced when its turning left... I didn't notice it at...
I have unsucessfully tried to search for this, it must be out there but I can't find it :sad6:
What is the difference between a straight and curved umi throttle? Which would suit general freestyle / surf riding / wave jumping?
Cheers,
Andrew
I'm the same.. 6"1' and 170 approx.
I eat whatever cr@p I feel like and don't put on weight. Which is good, but at the same time really bad as my diet is rubbish, and being slim doesn't mean you are healthy. I know I need to cut out junk food and eat fruit and veg.
