I would say your exhaust isn't getting enough water. You shouldn't melt radiator hose. Are you getting a stream of water to the stinger?

Although a PP engine can be more temperamental they are less expensive and easier to come by. If the engine is strong and the carb is a SBN that is tuned correctly it will fit the bill nicely. Also maybe a 650sx is something to consider. Good luck with your search.

I'd like to have a back-up engine for the summer months. Summers are too short in Michigan to have a ski down for a few weeks. I have 61x lower and can purchase a 62t upper inexpensively. I do have the 61x cylinder, but it needs a bore and new top end kit. Cost and the amount of total use that...

There is no doubt that the WC head was designed to be used with the WC gasket, but the stock gasket only adds .25mm of thickness across the entire mating surface. You would think that the oring could absorb this additional height without substantially increasing the risk of cracking the head...

I'm a hillbilly and have ran a stock gasket with my Westcoast head on a 650 for 2 years without issue. I have read that the 800 gasket works, but haven't seen it done. I'll be interested to see how it works.
