Yes and no, I have yet to see one of those test tanks that you can run a ski in and it not cavitate like crazy, the more HP the ski has the worse it gets .
At any rate you would be measuring thrust not horsepower with any setup like that.
Omni works ok as does Shopline , but read below for the real skinny on them , what most people don't know about PPG is they are constantly changing to new paint technology , at the same time they don't throw out the old paint tech , it just becomes a lower line of product , they may thin it a...
You can't get in too much trouble sanding by hand , especially if you use a sanding block to hold the sandpaper, sanding with a DA is where you can severely screw something up if you don't hold it flat or if the surface you are sanding isn't flat , as you state the learning curve on that can be...
I would pull the carb apart and give it a once over , it could be as simple as a plugged inner fuel filter screen or in the case of a Yamaha , a hardened main diaphragm. Just make sure you use OEM Mikuni parts when you put it back together
Here is my advice , take it for what it's worth , don't strip it with stripper , sand it all off with at least 80 grit sandpaper, if it's not a flat surface hand sand it otherwise you will get the hull all out of whack and wreck the chines , do your repairs as you stated with epoxy and fairing...
You mean the inner crankshaft seals , yes we see them , if it's a 717 it has to be at least 20 years old as they stopped production of the 717 in 2005 .
Back in my younger days I pulled a 587 crankshaft apart, replaced the inner seals and nothing else, the ski ran perfect and I will never do...
You posted asking for help , no mention of what kind of ski anything or else , actually you called it a bike , for all I know it's a Honda Z50 , I will tell you that the filler is at the top of the tank, not at the bottom.
I should get rolling here this coming week , i will post some stuff when I get going , this business is like a train , you have to pour the coal to it to get it running down the tracks , after that you can ease up a bit , this train has come to a complete stop , mostly that's my fault , I am...
It sounds to me like fuel is leaking into your hull fouling that air fuel mixture , you need to find out where it is leaking in , my guess is the fuel filler hose has split.
Sometimes you just get lucky, I have one here that has been sitting with water in it for years, I can't wait to see what is lurking inside there when I tear it down .
