Mild WDK ROK Build

I remember when the Hookers first came out, It was around 1776.............. LOL, More like 1476! That said, everyone was screaming get a 9/15...... They were running the old DASA cast cylinders, stroked motors........ I called Dave told him my spec. 84mm Big Bore 61X. His response "10/16". He was spot on. I later in life tried a 9/15, It bored holes in the water. Later had one pitched to 9.5/15.5, I had dropped back to an 82mm ported 61X. The 10/16 worked just fine with it, just tried to tweak it a bit with the custom pitch. If you have bone stock cylinders and pipe, 9/15. Any other mods, 10/16
1776 is not a real year that didn't exixt.

Paul said 9/15 or 10/16. I went with 10/16 after a second opinion. I have an LPW 735 Shredder top end and a b pipe along with a zeel, and a Solas 144 12v. I think 10/16 will be perfect.

You will need to see how quickly it jumps on the pipe and check peak rpm. The 10-16 can easily be pitched down, that’s all IMPROS did to make the 9-15.

10/16 should be the ticket. You can always add shims behind the impeller to loosen it up a little or bore your outlet nozzle. I added 2 mm in Shims behind my impeller and it loosened tye pump up just enough where it can quickly come on the pipe but not slip. A friend had a shredder 62t setup probably same as yours with 38s but he had a 9/15 with a bored nozzle maybe 2mm oversized. It was wayyy tooo loose in my opinion. It didn't cavitate or anything but I could feel the engine wanting more. But he could send it as well as I've seen with just a basic tried and true 701 setup..

Got the ski back from paint, FINALLY. Went with white gel in the end. It went on pretty badly because it was sprayed while it was so hot out, but whatever. Spent the evening sanding and buffing. You can see the matte finish on the side in the above picture. We did a test patch on the nose.

Then after a few hours of learning to sand and buff, here's the side. The bond rail will be turfed and the top peely part will be covered by the hood, so I'm not worried for now. I can always go back and perfect that next winter. But check out that finish!

220 > 400 > 600 > 1000 > 2000 > Buff > Wax.

Excited to get her back together. Gonna gel the bilge once I've made all my mods and mounts for my tank.

I did get this thing finished up.

After paint, first job was turf. I couldn't resist mocking everything up first though. Enabled me to locate glassing in a few mounts for that tank.

First shot at turf. Started with 26mm plush, I really like how it feels. Moved onto the base. That wasn't bad, but the rails and footholds were a bitch! Turfed the pad too.

I was pretty happy with it. Next time I would use more heat, I was not happy with that little cutout in the back. I would also take a bit more time to shape the plush before turfing over the top. It still works fine, but if I was to be picky that's what I'd target!

Figured I might as well make the ride plate and intake grate the same colour;

Grabbed an OG XS Trim. Solas 12 Vane, 10/16 hooker, XS Trim, brand new bearings and seals.

Engine failed the leakdown test! Good thing I checked it. Small leak at the cases, stator side. 30 minute fix before bed! I was a bit conservative on the 1211 previously.

Laying out hood straps and primer / bilge locations. Moved the pole bracket up a bit too. This enabled me to shorten my steering system so it wasn't so extreme. Felt better to hold and still gave me the choice to shorten it a few inches. Below is where the pole ended up.

Played with the temper on my 750sx spring to get it to a reasonable location.

Wrestled the pre assembled pole and spring and tube and bracket assembly into place. A lot easier than installing the spring and tubes in place on the ski, in my opinion. Pretty easy with a second set of hands. Pole finished up a bit higher, but I figured it would break in, I was right.

New breather tubes and a rest for the spring. (Don't use this lowes pool hose. It split after three months)

Then it was just throw everything back in there!

Drill wandered and my wattholes got out of line. Drives me nuts every time I see it. I'll glass and fix come winter.

Snagged me a beach cart. Made it to WaveRave 25. Had a great time surf riding this little boat.

This ski will be going up for sale in the winter / spring time. Either as a hull and pole, or as an RTR 701 based ski. It will not have the LPW 735 etc. Everything is for sale for the right price, if you're interested.

I learnt a lot about building skis from this old dog. And now it's got a new lease of life and looks a bit more respectable!

PM me if you're interested in the hull / ski or have any questions.

Thanks for reading!
