I haven't put it in the water after I changed the parts just fired it up.. Temp switch question - do I need to "ground" black wire and leave pink unconnected? I just pulled them apart..

No difference. Thinking.. Can the flywheel or stator plate have moved and can cause this?

:( I've replaced CDI, regulator, thermo switch, and ignition coil. No luck - acts as before - so now I have some good spare parts ;) Here's a film so you can hear how it acts..

Update.. I also checked the regulator and it also had really strange measurement numbers up in the Mohms.. So it looks like I have a bad CDI and regulator. Does that make sense?

Ok thanks. The measurements from the CDI are mostly up in the 1-20 Mohms - manual says much lower.
