Not sure. I bought the ski last year and never noticed an issue until yesterday. This is the first time I've had the motor out and I don't remember seeing a gap when I pulled it initially (that was last September though so I may have had the issue then). I'm going to try again tonight to get it...

So since the gap is way over any of the limits listed here, should I pull the motor and midshaft and start from scratch with re-shimming the pump? I haven't done this before and don't get how re-shimming everything will close a gap that big.

What is an acceptable gap for the coupler when installing an engine? I mocked it up today and had about 1/2" of open space all around. I'm running a full 61x in a SN. Should I just put the bolts in and see how far back I can slide the engine or start looking at the midshaft first? How far should...

In the process of rebuilding my engine. It's a 6m6 bottom end with 61x top. When I took it apart I noticed that one of my exhaust ports has a chunk missing. The metal isn't in my waterbox so it must have made it out at some point. I want to get a new top end so I have started looking for 61x...

Port Sheldon is definitely the place to go. I'm in the middle of an engine rebuild/reinforcing/tubbie install or I would head out tonight too ^^

Swapped out my starter on Saturday AM and tried to get her running again...it fired a couple times but I started hearing grinding in the cases and quit turning it over. Does the noise indicate a crank issue or should I keep working it until it gets started?

I am running a b-pipe. I tried jumping the starter relay at the ebox, would this tell me the same thing as jumping the starter on the engine?

Got the oil out, jumped the starter, still clicked...any other ideas or am I forked?

And is it possible to put in too much oil? I poured it in through the carb and cranked by hand to pull it through the cylinders but got to a point where I couldn't turn the crank anymore. I just don't want to blow anything.

I sunk my ski in Lake Michigan when I was riding this afternoon. Got home and pulled the plugs, engine was full of water. My ski broke down on the beach before it sank (filled up getting towed in). The solenoid clicks when I hit the starter but it won't crank. All connections outside the Ebox...

Replaced the bendix last night and sealed everything back up, problem solved. Thanks to Jetmaniac for getting me the parts I needed fast.

Does anyone have pics of the washer/spring/washer that should be in the flywheel cover to hold the bendix? I pulled my cover yesterday and didn't see anything like that. Should it be resting in the recess in the cover? Haven't had to replace a bendix before and want to make sure I have the right...
