I built a Rickter for strictly riding Lake Michigan down on the Indiana side. It flipped and did everthing could have hoped for with only a 701. You can always throw a bigger motor in there down the road.

@stagesrt4 will help you find something. If you want to go cheap and enjoy wrenching pick up a 550 to get started. Otherwise your budget will limit you to a 90-95 Yamaha Superjet or a Kawasaki 650sx.

Cut the stock plate first before you spend any $. You can cut it flush and then d-cut if the flush cut does not give you the desired result
