So I thought I would share this short GoPro video from last saturday. I went out on an inland lake to break in a new motor and ended up trying some flips.

I will post a little write up of my thoughts on the Q8 thus far. So far I have been really pleased and to those who are interested in this hull setup I hope my feedback is useful to you.

I did my first flatwater backflip on this same hull with a mildly ported polaris octane motor (777cc) with a stock ignition, bpipe, and a kawi 145 mag back in april or may.

Stay Tuned.

New Video Clip

Here is a video of my first one footed attempt. I only tried two and the second one didnt have near the extension....plus it was a little hairy without a dome-piece on my head. Hopefully ill figure out how to land this next time im out. This ski is a blast.

What is your opinion of the polaris motor versus a yamaha motor?

Thats a good question. The polaris platform makes great power. I was really happy with the way my ported stock stroke 777cc motor ran. Obviously the 1000cc is a big step but they are both work horses respectively. Its a big crank motor so very similar to my 66e setups they dont wind up quite as fast.....probably due mostly in part to the size of the cranks and the heavy stock flywheel that I run. I have honestly never ridden one with total loss but I hear that they hit super hard off the bottom. Dont get me wrong this motor hits like a bomb but it doesnt have that small block feel like a 62t from idle to 1/4 throttle. Then again, I have never cared much about the very bottom end as my interest has always been in the mid range. There is not a 62t motor that I would trade this setup for right now. I run 162lbs of compression on a non-powervalve motor with a b pipe and stock ignition. Its a really amazing setup so far and I'm really pleased with how it runs.

I cannot imagine this setup with TL , PV's and more compression on a dry pipe....let alone an 1105cc.

I'm sold on Polaris for now.
