yep, you def. have to get this baby back and running. First, check the wires that go from your stator to the CDI box area. Mine got tangled up in my driveshaft once and I had to re-wire it.

Check all grounds, broken wires, shorted wires, etc..

NO OIL IN THE STATOR COVER! To my knowledge, that plug is to check timing. When you put the stator back on, make sure the "hash mark" line on the stator matches up with the two case halves. You will see what Im talking about when you get in there.

Check your plug boots and make sure the wire is secure in there.

Good luck, hope this helped a little if at all!

I would say from the fact that it died when you landed a big jump you should check the stop button. I can't count how many times I have smashed into my stop button when landing (or not so landing) big air. Have yet to do any permanent damage but it will happen sooner or later I am sure. Just unplug the stop switch from the e-box, connect an ohmmeter or continuity tester to both wires and make sure the circuit is closed when the button is not pushed and open when it is pushed (or is it the other way around?).

Not saying that is it but a good thing to check as it is very simple and happens on the old skis.

I had a par of 79's at one time and we had constant issues like this on account of those stop buttons. We finally just disabled them and used the choke to kill the engines. Not ideal but it worked and was alot cheaper than new switches! $$$

so i got a book and ohmed out the exciter coil and its way off from specs so i found a stator on ebay and now im tryin to get the flywheel off and it is stuck on there hard! any suggestions on gettin it off there im goin to try a different puller tonight with grade 8 bolts hopfully it works, i did disconnect the stop switch and still no spark and since the exciter coil didnt ohm within spec i think the stator is the culprit!

Pretty sure if I remember right you have to jump that stop switch to bypass it, not disconnect it. It's been a while tho so I might be mistaken. I got nothing on that flywheel for you though.

well if thats the case i wished i would have tried that before i got this deep lol i did get the flywheel off you just got to use a hammer and smack that sucker and it pops off but you got to have your puller TIGHT! now the new stator i got doesnt fit inside the flywheel its so close yet so far..... im going to grind just a little bit off the sator i mean just a tiny bit is all it needs has any of you guys ran into this problem before? and thanks for all your guyses input i realy appriciate it!

do any of you guys know if there is a difference between the 300 440 550 flywheels before i grind to much on my new stator it is a oem kawi one so im a little confused as to why its not fitting into the flywheel like it should it bolts up to the engine just fine?

You might have more luck with these questions over in the vintage ski section of pwctoday. There are very few people on this site that still run the older kawis.
