oil ratio?

been out of riding for over 10yrs. I've forgotten how many oz. of oil per 5 gal. have a 1994 superjet 701. Is it 50:1 or 40:1? How many oz. of oil in the jug? I think I remember using a little less than specified, because the recommended dose is a little over kill for saftey reasons, and machine runs better leaned out a bit, right? A reminder would be appreciated. Also have no battery in ski, what battery number does it use?

Get yourself a $2 mixing bottle with a few different oil ratios and fuel amounts on it.

51.2:1. Kind of a funny ratio isn't it?

LOL - yeah it is... but that 1.2 makes a huge difference... LOL

I used to run 13oz... then just scaled back a little... it actually works well as I seem to get very little carbon like deposits on the transom by the exhaust outlet.

and I believe too much oil lowers the octane rating...

You are correct. Running a few numbers real quick starting with 92 octane gas and assuming 2 stroke oil is around 10 octane (SWAG), by mixing 40:1 you'd end up with and overall octane rating of 90.0, but mixing it 50:1 would give you 90.39 octane, plus use less oil, that's like getting paid to mix 50:1 haha
