Hey everyone, my name is Jed and I have been riding an X2 since I was probably 12 years old back when my brother first bought his 91. I'm now 30. I've never been involved much in the technical part of it, I always left that up to our dealer or my brother. There's not much stock about the jet ski anymore so I don't know exactly what to do. My brother passed away 1 year ago to the day. I decided last week that it was time to get the jet ski back on the water. He spent a lot of money on this fixing it up because I used to race it, so I owe it to him to get it going again.
It has not been ridden in probably 3 years. Last time I rode it I noticed that it did not turn well to one side anymore. It has UMI steering on it. I need help in knowing how to adjust the steering, or doing whatever needs done to fix it. There is a bit of play at the nozzle.
Also, I'm wondering if anyone knows where I can find either the whole switch, or just the front face piece that allows a lanyard to be used. This ski used to have one on it but I don't know what he did with it. I absolutely refuse to get this back on the water again without it. Back in 1997 me and a friend were out with the jet skis, and for whatever reason this one decided it was going to take off across the lake by itself and crash into the rocks after about a 1/2 mile trip. I chased it on the other ski, but a stock 650 sx isn't going to catch an x2 with a 750 and all the other performance stuff on it, with no rider! Lucky we were able to get a new 95 to replace it with. I'd like to not have this one go away on its own.
So if anyone knows where I could find this part I would greatly appreciate your help. This project means a lot to me, and I want to make sure it's done right. I'm going to try and restore things back to as new as I can in time, but for now I just want to get it on the lake!
I don't know specific specifications for all the upgrades done to this. I know he put a 750 in it, different head, pipe, ignition, prop, steering, dual carbs, intake grate and ride plate. Definitely better than when it was stock! I think last we checked it was running right at about 53 mph. I'm just anxious to get this back on the lake and rip it!
