Any way to just run the Kawi stator plate and flywheel and wire it to the Yami box? I have my Yami box sitting right next to my (non-running) x2 and I was about to start comparing whether or not it's even possible.

No Yami uses a three coil stator, an exciter, a trigger and a charging coil, Kawi is a two coil stator, an exciter and a charging coil, no way to interchange it without swapping the whole setup.

no, you would need the Yami stator plate and do as described above, still using the Kawi flywheel. (I think...lol)

Ok, I wondered what that other little coil was for on the stator plate. Keep us updated on this Crab. I've either got a rectifier or coil issue, of which neither meet resistance specs and a complete 61x setup sitting here.

Sad part is I just sent my spare k650 motor to Ketchikan on tuesday, so until I get pissed off enough to tear into this futher my X2 will just be sitting. Cannibal, if you want to get kracking on it pm me and I will give you my detailed thoughts on how to make this work, a good digital timing light will make life easier to get things where you want them when done.

Run a sxi box mounted on a Rad Dudes Surf Brace and call it a day. The only yami box i have played with was on my blaster and its total junk!

Never said to run a kawi motor, just said the box. Talk to John at JSS he has done a bunch of Yami swaps into sxi boxes. The sxi box is just a much nicer setup. And if it's an X2 why not run the brace to have a place to mount it, that's all I'm saying.

Problem? Only issue here is keeping this thread on track about converting to yamaha electronics, not adding more crap that is irrelevant and not needed IMO. If you have something relevant to add about the conversion by all means speak up.

What is the point to convert to yamaha electrical?
The later kawasaki electrical system is better than a yamaha so why do you want to do this?
Seems like a whole lot of work not to gain a thing IMO.

got all the parts, trying to get rid of all the kawi stuff I have, and don't agree with your last statement.

Once again! I was saying the sxi box should be used over the junk yami box. And the brace is a good way to mount it.

IMO you are getting worked up over me adding usefull info

Should I list facts:
1. 04+ is a DC cdi
2. "O" ring sealed E box with bolts!
3. Can disconnect postive & neg battery cables from outside E box
4. cheaper coil & better plug boots
5. better seals where plug wires come through E box
6. stator is on flywheel cover no need to machine cases
7. Stator uses a pick up trigger
8. can make it cheap TL
9. Can disconnect stator with 2 bolts
10. KAWASAKI RULES!:cool2:

You say you like to ride not tinker. This sounds like you are being cheap and want to tinker instead of just buying the kawasaki 800 electrical and go riding

IMHO opinion which means nothing because I no nothing and I certainly do not work on these every day, there is no comparison between the 04 and up Kawi electrics and the yamaha electrics and I am in total agreement that the Yamaha e-box is complete crap, even Seadoo has a better e-box setup than Yamaha.

Thank you! I was just saying the sxi/sxr box is the way to go. The newer sxr setup you can even jump the timing up at the flip of a wire!
All stock coil wires IMO are junk I only run JSS upgraded wires on my stuff now.
