I run a 3:2 mix of 100LL and 92 pump gas per builder recommendation.
Works great on 200 psi cranking compression.

*I* need to run it because I have high enough compression to warrant a higher octane fuel.

I run straight AV 100LL fuel, I've also ran the VP race 110 octane fuel. The AV works just as good in my setup and is about half the price. The 100LL fuel is not 100 octane, its 97-98 octane from what I read.

My understanding is that 100LL is rated at less than 99 motor octane . I think it is a good compromise to straight race gas if you have a cheep source. 100ll averages about 5.50 a gallon in Georgia but, if you watch 100ll.com you can catch it at some rural FBO's for 3.00 to 4.00 . Another benefit to 100ll is that if stored properly it has a very long shelf life due to it's chemical stability . It is a must IMO for higher compression users that don't want to go full race gas. One ounce of prevention.

Well I just read his wright up in the link . I have a friend that is a amateur road corse racer and a chemical engineer . My above post was what he told me. If 100lll is not more stable with a longer shelf life General aviation sure stores it in their wing tanks for extended periods of time on the hot uncovered tar mac . Maybe aircraft sales could chime in on some of the wonderful and mysterious qualities of 100ll . Long and short I think it is a good alternative for Higher psi motors as I are is am a user.

Matt , at 3:2 what do you calculate your motor octane to be ? Are you sure your builder knows what he is talking about ? ( choose you words carefully young man or risk the fiery lake of jet ski HELL ) seriously , I don't mean to bring religion into the thread , but I must say as a Presbyterian in the reformed Presbyterian church ........... we don't believe in......... pre detonation .

I very much believe my builder knows what he's talking about ;)

I think the (R+M)/2 octane of my mix ends up being 95-96. Whatever it is, it's enough to run my engine for extended WOT at 200 psi and pretty good advance.

Matt, you have PM . I Generally don't like bothering him with questions that others in the camp have already asked. I have total confidence in your builder as well . He speaks truth with no forked tongue .

Av gas has worked very well for us in the hi performance jetski engine market, way better cost friendly way to go than high grade racing gasoline.
If you live somewhere that it would be easy to purchase from a supplier, you can surely make more power and up the reliability of the engine against detonation.

I have run 100% 100LL for 2.5 years and it has enabled me to run more comp and timing than pump gas would, but I have now found that the MS109 provides ALOT more power. Is the MS109 worth the additional 6.00 per gallon? IMO when I can afford MS109, that is what I am running and I have even found a 50/50 mix of MS109 and 100LL still makes great power compared to straight 100LL. ANd the dumb part is my comp is now low enuf to go back to pump gas, but I love the power of MS109.

What are your thoughts?

VP does make the best fuels on the market today...MS109 is one of them. I use the MR8 in my RD400 vintage roadracer!

I bet that RD is a freegin blast to ride!!! I have a buddy with a H2 that I ride from time to time. IMO everything should be a 2 smoke!!!
