What to do when MSD Enhancer dies?

My MSD Enhancer decided to take a dump on me today. I've got the ole spark only when you let off of the green button thing going on. The enhancer itself is probably 4 years old. Can I send it back and have it repaired in a reasonable amount of time and money or do I just need to sack up and buy a new one? Elec box is dry. It quit on me as I tried a pathetic and shallow nose stab. The embarassing part is that a sea poo pulled me in. Waxhead, how much is your setup?

Put your stock one in until a new one comes in. If you have a high comp motor, just don't rev it too high with the stock cdi at the risk of detonation.

It's a fairly high compression motor (runs on 93 octane). I bought it like it is so I don't have the stocker. Sounds like it's a $240 problem :frown:

unless you have a dirty connection.

I honestly have good luck with them, only haveing one die on me, and that was from sitting in water in the E box all winter.

and I didnt even bother trying to clean it up, I just swapped in the spare.

Id mod a stocker before I paid retail for a MSD.
too much money now.

I don't think that they have much of a warranty due to it being an electrical part. If it is 4 years old then MSD will just tell you to order a new one. I don't think that they offer any repairs. I called the customer support once concerning replacing the plug wires on a MSD stock improved coil and they just blew me off and said you have to buy a new one, thats it, no other option. IMO the enhancer provides a noticeable improvement on the power curve due to its better advance curve, I would run a stock with the adj. rev limit until you can get a replacement MSD. I have had mine for 8+ years and no problems. If I ever step up I will either buy the MSD total loss or the Advent ignitions to get a programmable curve capability. A good ignition will find all the power that your motor can deliver, well worth it IMO.

They do offer repairs, but they are dicks about it. I sent in my broke enhancer for repair and they sent it back with a sticker saying it was " Economically Un-repairablr" Ive been using the stock CDI since. One day ill get another enhancer...
