Ah yes, body work. About as fun as getting your d1ck caught in a vise. I have 4 in varying stages of prep as we speak.

I can't wait to see what the b1 will look like. I loved the color of the X2 you did for bobby.

found another crack in the SJ that initially looked like a stress crack in the gel coat... now it should be ready for primer.

I guess this means I need to get the engines back together. ;)

As for the colors, the pictures I sent Nick to match up are ...

Blaster Main Color - http://houseofkolor.com/images/speedshapes/IP04_BC25.jpg
Blaster Hood Color - http://houseofkolor.com/images/speedshapes/MBC03CF_BC25.jpg

I was thinking about it sort of like ... what would a blaster have looked like if Yamaha didn't put that ugly ass purple color on it, and instead, picked a nice metallic purple.

And for the Super Jet - Same as the blaster hood color ... very dark grey metallic all over. Just simple, and since I sort of suck out in the surf, nothing that's going to draw too much attention to me ... I'll leave the yellow, green, and orange bright colors for people who can actually ride. ;)

He's matching the colors, and I told him we can go heavy on the flake and pearl as long as it don't end up looking like a bass boat out there ...

I've got new seat covers for the blaster, and new turf for both. Also going on the SJ is a WF hood and lowered nosepiece, and an X-Metal pole. The blaster has UMI steering, and the hull was actually one of Tim Judge's old race hulls from Riva ... a very early one. His name is still on the title, and I got the hull and engine from a guy that used to work at Riva. He was taking it from house to house to house before he moved across the country, and gave me a deal on it I couldn't refuse ...

Not sure if you can tell, but that's the puke yellow color Riva used to run on their blasters around 1993-1994-1995 time frame.

another thing..

It seems that every hole that Yamaha had for all the through bulkhead fittings leaked pretty bad. All those holes should be silicon-ed or have 3m 5200 on them as soon as you buy the boat just for safe measure. I did both sides on all fittings just to be safe... I bet a gallon of water poured out of the holes in the bulkhead when I put it on it's nose... ha ha..

Man, those colors have some serious flake and pearl. I can't wait to see these finished. I think the all dark grey SJ will look amazing.

Yeah, I'm hoping they look pretty nice when they're done too ... Nick seems to know what he's doing on the paint based on some of the other stuff he's worked on.

A few more details on the setup for each machine:

Super Jet:

- 64v 701 - That'd be 62t cases, 61x cylinder.

- Blaster Mod Pipe. Ceramic coated flat black for the manifold and headpipe, and chrome looking on the chamber.
- Riva Girdled Head
- MSD Enhancer
- Stock bore and stroke until it needs something fixed
- Re-jetting/re-building the dual 38's. With Tau Ceti filters
- Riva groovy plate, and Worx 201 intake.
- WF hood and nosepiece
- X-Metal -2 pole
- X-Metal turn plate & Bars
- Kenny Keepers
- Dual bilge pumps
- Light reinforcing by Nick.
- Pancake Pete front foothold
- Blowsion footholds.
- 25mm Underpad, New Turf, Lifter Wedge in Back
- A few new trim pieces here and there.

Blaster Will Have:

- 4 mil Rad Stroker crank
- 2 Over Bore - 83mm pistons
- Race Ported by TJ back in the day ( has solid low end too )
- Old school spacer plate for the stroker
- RPM girdled head with domes for pump gas
- Dual 44's on R&D Intake
- MSD Analog Total Loss Ignition
- Fiberglass reinforced Waterbox. ( old water box went boom )
- Factory Pipe Blaster Limited Pipe
- Jet Dynamics Deep scoop grate
- Jet Dynamics Ride Plate.
- New Turf and Seat Cover
- A few new trim pieces here and there

Wiring them both up with new wire all around, and making sure the wiring is done right because I almost always ride salt. Also new black fuel and black water lines all around, and cleaning off a ton of caked up salt.

Will post some pics at some point when I get some of the pieces together. Right now I just have a lot of stuff sitting on my workbench in the garage.

pics of progress...

after I started sanding the Blaster I noticed they used no primer or sealer so I am sanding all the yellow off so the paint will not just flake off under the new finish. They also did not even bother to tape anything off... RIVA deserves a swift kick in the nuts for that... he he he.

I chose those colors for my b1 about four years ago, and I was very happy with how it turned out, so I hope you will be as well. Both the purple and black have the metallic flakes in it, yet I do not recall where Charlie took me to pick out the paint up in St. Augustine. I thought the custom seat cover would help all blend well, and it did...the black diamond Hydroturf (and Nick, you still owe me that recall) helped as well. The picture attached was taken in the shade for the most part, so your ski should really sparkle when the sunlight hits it! I hope it turns out well for you!!

Edit: and for some reason, I am thinking my black was called a cherry metallic black (it has an unusual tint), if that helps you two with a pre-visual in any manner.
