Why did my engine explode? *Solved*

couple years ago I was doing a midnight swap out and was taking my top end and putting it on a spare set of cases/crank. Pulled the cylinder only to find that both skirts on the pistons were cracked. I got lucky. Had 2+ seasons on that motor with a whole lot of time and competitions on it.

It happens.

I just saw this thread and I see you know where the pieces of metal came from.. but Im still going to say it.

Who put the rice on your one piston??

That sucks dude I hope your crank is still good.

Questions that need answering. What is a the thrust side? How long is too long on a set of pistons? Has anyone ever just replaced the circle spring on the rear seal? Why does your wife/girlfriend ignore you when you ask a question starting with "honey"?

Umm well there are alot of factors.
1. The engine has NEVER been rebuilt, its original from 1994
2. I put on a high compression head sunday, even though the rear cylinder was about 10 psi lower before
3. I ran a friends gas. Idk what the ratio was. He said it was 50:1. I guess my modified SJ needed a little more oil
4. Sunday was the first day it ran, for over a month, since it had sunk!

Im honestly not too sad about the fact it died. It was a strong engine for almost 20 years! The rear cylinder was dieing anyway, glad it happened yesterday instead of while on vacation somewhere.
for some reason i though this was on a fresh rebuild.
1. no way!? thats awesome, but way too long to be running.
2.sign #1 that needed a rebuild
3. never run someone elses gas. run your oil, your ratio, ect.
4. what!?!?!?!?!?!?
